About The Studio
Daina Platais Ceramics is an independent ceramics production and design studio located in Brooklyn, New York.
About the Artist
Daina Platais is an independent designer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is focused on creating handmade ceramic pieces that merge within design, art and craft. Raised by two scientists, she found herself doing everything against logic and calculation, but instead relishing in spontaneous experiences.  Her work is based on discovery and simplicity, it is an extension of her thoughts and questions, a manifestation of her ideas and remnants of her experiences. Splitting time up between freelancing as a product designer and working at her studio, has allowed a body of work to emerge that is still growing and developing with each day. Daina Platais has featured her work at a few galleries, and has participated in the Brooklyn Independent Designers Market.
Professional Activities
Daina Platais Ceramics, owner, Brooklyn NY
November 2006 – present
Currently creating a collection of ceramics that is hand made in the studio with a consciousness towards sustainability and the synthesis of design, art and craft.
The Red Kindle, co-founder, Brooklyn NY
April 2006 – August 2006
Founded studio that offered a space to rent for local artist, local small-scale production and classes. The studio was based on sustaining the community of artists that is so prevalent within Brooklyn, by offering affordable space and classes. The space was built to offer a variety of equipment for clay artists who work on the wheel, to those who slip cast or hand build. My business partner and myself also offered local small-scale production to local artists and designers.
